Double French Braids with a Hint of Flair

Here is a cute and simple hairstyle with an added bit of flair.  As long as you are familiar with a traditional french braid then you are good to go!

Start with a zig zag part.  If you have never done this it is much easier than you think.  Simply take the edge of a comb, start at the front of your child's head (just off centered) and go back in your zig zag.  Don't lift the comb up until you get to the end.

Stop the zig zag at the half way and then continue down with a straight line part.  Secure one side of the hair to make sure it is out of your way and then start your french braid on the other.  By the way... I am sorry for having more limited pictures of this one.  Not only was it simple, I was also in a hurry.

In order to make sure I have braided far enough down, braid as far down as you can and secure it with a rubber band that will be easy to remove later.  Then continue to the other side and repeat the braid.
When both braids are complete join them together in the back with a smaller, tighter rubber band.  Remove any braided portion that is in the new ponytail, comb it out and then proceed with a tradition braid all the way down.  Put a tiny rubber band at the bottom and then loop it up almost tucking it back into the hair.  Then take a larger rubber band to secure the loop.  Add a wonderful accessory (a scrunchie for all you flipping gymnasts!!) or even a great flower!
